India: Salvage off Hazira Port

Contract

The vessel was assisting the dredger in anchor shifting. The A-frame was fixed in the AFT which was not approved and the vessel was not designed to work for such assignments. The vessel listed during a lift and sank.

SEALORD Salvage was contracted on 15th July, 2008 for safely refloating the tugboat.

Our Work

The vessel was repaired during low tide with all hatch covers sealed. The water was pumped out using submersible pumps during low tide and counter weights were attached to correct the list. With the onset of high tide, the vessel started coming up with submersible pumps de-watering the compartments.

Result

The vessel was safely refloated and towed to the Essar jetty for underwater inspection. The vessel was delivered to the client in safe floating condition on 23rd July, 2008.
